Is No Makeup the New Beauty Trend?

Is No Makeup the New Beauty Trend?

  • Written by Bethsaida Romelus

Today many women are leaving their lip liners and mascaras at home to achieve a more natural look. Less beauty coverage on the face is becoming a trendy and appealing approach. But, that did not stop Kylie Jenner’s much-anticipated-and-pricey Lip Kit to cause an overwhelming praise to those obsessed with wearing a lipstick in a nude shade. That’s still consider a natural look right?

Are young women following beauty trends by going out barefaced or is it a matter of convenience? There is no doubt it can be an easy and quick routine to rinse, lather, and be on your way in the morning, but how much effort are young women putting into a healthy glow?

We asked three ladies about their beauty history and keeping things natural:

Samantha, 21
I love the natural look. I’ve never been a big fan of wearing a whole bunch of makeup. Usually I wear foundation and concealer before starting my day. But I never felt like I was following a beauty trend or doing it to impress anyone. I spend most of my days going to class and working so I have a very quick makeup and skin routine. I did what I felt was best at the time. I take good care of my skin by washing and exfoliating it at night so I can look great in the morning.

Melissa, 20
I love the more natural look and I love makeup. I often try new ways of applying products to my face but I don’t have enough time to glam up before going to class and work. I usually wear foundation and powder — eyeliner if I’m not planning on going to the gym. I try my best to take care of my skin with skin care products. I often use over-the-counter cleansers and scrubs to exfoliate my face so my acne doesn’t break out. I have oily skin and wearing excessive makeup will just make it worse.

Suzy, 25
I went through a few different phases of wearing a lot of makeup, minimal makeup, and none at all. Today for me it’s all about the occasion and the risks I’m willing to take. When I say risks I mean smokey eyes versus just keeping things simple. I like the natural no makeup look. I’m also a fan of a natural look with the help of a few earth tone shadows. I am a fan of Maybelline’s Eye Studio Color Tattoo Eyeshadow in Bold Gold because it enhances and brightens up my natural skin tone by just adding a little smear.

That sums up how some women feel about the natural look, but we want to know your thoughts. What beauty trends are you following or not so excited about? Leave a comment below and tell us how you’re making a statement with what you put on your face!
