To Heel Or Not To Heel

  • Written by Sarah Jaihe Lee

Everyone wants to look like they put some effort into their appearance whether going to school, work or a girl’s night out. More often than not, I see young women walking around in painful six inch heels that they end up holding towards the end of the night. I firmly believe you can look glam and put together, and be comfortable at the same time. Here are 4 tips for those of you who don’t want to sacrifice comfort or style.

#1 Accessorizing with jewelry is a great way to express your personal style. However, you don’t want to have too many focal points in your outfit. If you’re wearing a statement necklace AND bedazzled heels, it can look overdone. Pick one, not both.

#2 You can still wear heels and be comfortable. However, choose a heel that’s 3-4 inches or less. Wedges, like the one below, are a great option because they give a lot of support. So for those of you who are asking, “To heel or not to heel?” You can definitely heel.

#3 If you ARE going to wear high heels that can cause pain, wear insoles. These Dr. Scholl’s insoles prevent foot pain in heels 2″ or higher and they also won’t damage your shoes.

#4 Flats are super cute, comfortable and go with most outfits. They are my go-to shoe when I want to look put together and will never go out of style because they’re so classic. This pair is just under $20 and this pair has a small heel, so it’s a great option for those of you who can’t give it up.

No matter what you choose to wear, the most important thing is that you feel comfortable. Wear whatever makes you feel good and it’ll definitely show on your face and demeanor.
