An Insider’s Guide to 5 Breathtaking Manhattan Destinations

New York City, you are too good. You are endlessly beautiful, grand, and dare I say it, holy. I bow down to your immense, towering buildings. I walk your sacrosanct streets with a smile as I breathe in the passing halal cart, as I make eye contact with a fashionista parading down the street. I smile because you are too, too good. Having lived here for over eight months, I have done some serious Manhattan venturing. If I were to think back to all my adventures and pinpoint the moments and excursions that left me most astounded and awed, then these five destinations below would be at the top of the list. If you find yourself on this glorious island, these should be your go-to’s. #1. The Oculus This is something you need to see in person. The Oculus structure at the World Trade Center has taken a standard transportation hub to another level. This is a first-class architecture masterpiece. As you walk through the Oculus, you are engulfed by immense whiteness. It’s magnificent.  As you walk around, …

Simply Audree Kate: Earthed Denim

New York City-based blogger, Audree Kate, otherwise known as Simply Audree Kate, dresses up for our Fall 2016 Look Book! Audree’s sun-kissed highlights and contagious smile are  just two of the reasons she’s featured in this year’s summer to fall style transition. The budding stylist’s unique take on her personal style is the third. “A mix between your grandmother’s vintage floral couch and a rock concert. It’s feminine yet edgy, and has a vintage twist,” mentions Audree. She paired her classic denim jacket with a long sleeve pinstripe button down. The sleeves of the button down are rolled over to the cuffs of the denim jacket, giving the look an urban flare and seriousness while still being laid back. The tiered and velvet skirt is the perfect shade for fall: olive green. The subtle hue blends with all the colors that come with autumn. She doesn’t let the earth tones stop there; Audree dons a pair of cognac colored mules. She finishes her outfit off with sunglasses and a dazzling gold statement necklace. We’ve got three more look book features to add …

Homme Style: Marcel Floruss of One Dapper Street

There is a charming and magnetic pull for a man who is well-tailored. Just like men, women love to do a double take, especially for a super attractive gentleman walking by. This week our attention is on Marcel Dominik Floruss, a 24-year-old German native heartthrob sharing his thoughts on fashion and relationships. The recently single and stylish gent behind One Dapper Street is an easy going guy who nods to music, meditation, and Netflix for a relaxing time. YHM: Do you have any hidden talents? MDF: Hopefully not so hidden anymore in the very near future, but I used to be a professional dancer ranging from ballet to hip-hop with a focus on the latter. I am hoping to bring more of that back and present fashion that way! YHM: What’s your social media obsession? MDF: I am a serious meme addict. I think I follow about twenty different meme accounts and regularly catch up on the latest posts. YHM: Do you have a favorite love song or romantic movie? MDF: Okay, ultra-cheesy, but I actually …

Blogger & the Brand; A How-To Guide for Success

In a world where lighting is everything and #bossbabe has become a slogan for successful women, there is clearly an overwhelming magnet for perfection like never before. Although I would like to strive for perfection, rainy nights, New York Fashion Week and the MTA train system don’t exactly mix well together. Stepping off the platform in the West Village and into the sleek ambiance of SUSHISAMBA, an upscale restaurant that serves a blend of Japanese and Brazilian cuisine, was every blogger’s dream networking event. Marcus Campbell, the founder of Ombre Digital, a fashion marketing agency, greeted me to the company’s first Blogger and the Brand showcase. The event’s line-up consisted of some major networking opportunities for influencers to get face time with brands which in a nutshell equals possible profit for both parties. Dishing out advice and a helpful roadmap towards success were panelists Christina Ferrari, Christine Bibbo Herr of NYC Pretty, and Kim Westwood of Shopping Links. Campbell took some time to guide us through his company’s first blogger event and what to expect …

Nana Meriwether: A True Renaissance Woman

Nana Meriwether isn’t the typical girl you’d see walking down the street. Or is she? In a world where we see women juggling everything from entrepreneurship to motherhood, becoming earners of both pageant tiaras and doctorate degrees, it’s hard not to celebrate those who pride themselves on being able to wear so many different hats and Meriwether is truly an outstanding example of that. She reveals that, like many women in today’s society, she embodies the character of a true Renaissance woman. While many know her as former Miss USA 2012, Meriwether has proven to be much more. She used her title as a platform that she says opened the doors for even greater opportunities. The former athlete and All-American volleyball player also used pageantry as a way to continue to fuel her competitive spirit after playing overseas in Puerto Rico and training for the Olympics. Seeking a career in publishing, she went on to intern at Harper’s Bazaar magazine. She recognized that there was power in the press, and breaking into the fashion industry via …
