Ivory Couture’s Autumn/Winter 2017 Collection Makes a Bold & Elegant Stance

Ivory Couture’s “The Women” Autumn/Winter 2017 collection was a breath of bold French Victorian fashion. Creative Director and owner Bella Ivory did an amazing job with her revolutionary line that sported a very classic chic design for the season. From bold black fabrics with hints of delicate light lacework to splashes of passionate color, Ivory’s fabric combination exposes female strength, while preserving her elegance. Her abstract designs draped beautifully across fresh-faced models that confidently strutted down the runway to performing artist Chris Porter. Performing his newest party vibe single ‘Catwalk Killer,’ Porter kept the audience moving in their seats as the models blew us away look after look. There was much excitement floating around the room as the audience realized that although Ivory Couture is elegant high-fashion, it’s designed for individuals of all sizes and backgrounds. With bold colors—white, black and red, and pink being the focal hues—for her line, Ivory makes strong statements, but it’s the way she is able to mix robust fabrics like leather with delicate lacing that truly tells the story. …

Blogger & the Brand; A How-To Guide for Success

In a world where lighting is everything and #bossbabe has become a slogan for successful women, there is clearly an overwhelming magnet for perfection like never before. Although I would like to strive for perfection, rainy nights, New York Fashion Week and the MTA train system don’t exactly mix well together. Stepping off the platform in the West Village and into the sleek ambiance of SUSHISAMBA, an upscale restaurant that serves a blend of Japanese and Brazilian cuisine, was every blogger’s dream networking event. Marcus Campbell, the founder of Ombre Digital, a fashion marketing agency, greeted me to the company’s first Blogger and the Brand showcase. The event’s line-up consisted of some major networking opportunities for influencers to get face time with brands which in a nutshell equals possible profit for both parties. Dishing out advice and a helpful roadmap towards success were panelists Christina Ferrari, Christine Bibbo Herr of NYC Pretty, and Kim Westwood of Shopping Links. Campbell took some time to guide us through his company’s first blogger event and what to expect …

Eda Semana; The California, Leather-and-Denim-loving, Grungy Hippie.

We are California dreaming with one of our favorite new style influencers. Eda Semana, of Luxe & Linen, began her college career like so many young people – full of hope, but conflicted about the right path to take to be successful. She revealed that her grades suffered while pursuing a major she found no joy in. However, her quirky meets chic blog helped her redeem her creative roots. “My most memorable moment [in fashion] was when I attended my first show for MBFW at the Lincoln Center in New York City. I walked in in complete awe admiring the entire venue and found myself surrounded by so many like-minded and inspiring people. From then on, I knew that this industry and this world was where I wanted to be,” explains Semana. We dug a little deeper to get to know this West Coast babe after frequently obsessing over her Instagram feed. YHM: What is one of your most memorable fashion try? What would you change? ES: In high school, everyone has their own style phases: …

On Friday We Wear Red: Raising Awareness for Heart Disease

February 6th probably doesn’t come  across your mind as a significant day. It’s Friday, so you’ll probably be getting out of class or work, and ready to dedicate a weekend of some intense reflection (we sure will be) on Katy Perry’s half-time show. In all seriousness, there is a reason why this Friday is important. Since 2003, the American Heart Association has been celebrating National Wear Red Day every first Friday of February in an effort to raise awareness about heart disease among women. To #GoRed is a reminder to people that heart disease and strokes don’t just affect men. They’re affecting just as many women every day, or as their website says, “Heart disease and stroke kill 1 in 3 women, yet it’s 80% preventable.” With such a large number of women possibly crossing paths with heart disease, the campaign to “wear red” has only become more important to the public in recent years. For the 12th anniversary of National Wear Red Day, it won’t only be women wearing red. Over in New Jersey, …

How to Layer Summer Pieces for Winter Fashion

January is coming to an end but the winter chill is still lingering around. Cara Kovacs of The Stylephile helps us spice up our winter wardrobe by layering our favorite summer pieces. I was raised in Florida, so winter fashion is sort of an acquired skill for me. However, I love accessorizing and mixing styles, and winter is one of the best seasons to do this. Layering is the key to playing with winter style. Warm weather accessories are so much more varied than in other times of the year. Scarves, gloves, and hats are just the beginning. I love playing with pairing sweaters with vests or button downs, and tights or chunky socks with booties and knee-highs. This look is a perfect example of that. Most people think they have to pack their mini skirts away all season long, but where’s the fun in that? I wanted to challenge myself to stay toasty in a short skirt by adding warm sweaters, and my favorite vintage coat. Then, my favorite part, of piling on accessories let …

Marie Mag; A New Kind of Winter Fashion

We’re back with another winter style special! Let’s take some tips from Candace Marie of Marie Mag and ditch those dark winter hues and wrap up in a bold sleek outerwear. My style has evolved over the years and as I have become more aware of who I am, my outside appearance has reflected that wholeheartedly.  For the winter I picked out pieces with bold colors and prints like my coats. I tend to gravitate towards winter fashion that makes a bold statement.  This boxy yet sleek vintage wool coat caught my eye while thrifting and I knew immediately that I would need this piece for my closet. Underneath my coat I kept it simple with a pair of skinny 7 Jeans and an Urban Outfitters stripped shirt top.  To reflect the masculine feel of the coat I added a pair of Aldo Sneakers to the mix. Fashion Life New Years Resolution This year I want to hit the ground running so I wrote out some of my New Year’s Resolutions.  On the top of …
