A Talk with Paxyshia Yang: Fashion Trends and Shopping For Your Figure

Fashion blogging is an art and something that takes talent and ingenuity, but most of all, style. Paxyshia Yang is the clever brains behind a budding YouTube channel and Instagram. Yang has been perfecting and sharing her personal style with the world since she was in high school. The Minnesota native tells us who inspires her and how her style has evolved over time. YHM: Who are your style muses and inspirations? Paxyshia Yang: I always said Rihanna was one of my style icons. The things she wears are overwhelmingly cool. Also, Shay Mitchell and Karreuche Tran; what they wear are new and trendy and what’s happening right now. YHM: Can you condense your style in three words? PY: Affordable because of how I grew up and where I’m at right now; comfortable and current. Those are three really important words to [my style.] YHM: Do you face any struggles shopping for your fashion taste? PY: Yes; I think because I am a plus-size blogger. It’s hard to find clothes for myself that aren’t expensive. …

Plaid Skirt One More Time

Everytime I see a plaid skirt, what comes to my mind is an old school uniform. As obvious as it is, I believe every girl would love to dress in a plaid skirt and high knee socks. Even Britney Spears! As we saw in a sexy plaid skirt version on her music video: “Baby One More Time,” they are also a must have for Rachel Berry from Glee. In addition to the famous TV stars, the plaid skirt is a true back-to-school option for girls. The skirt, plus high knee socks are awesome for this “end of summer” time of the year, when is not too hot but not yet cold. With this look I am wearing a light white sweater which works great for the approaching cooler fall weather. The white, red and black colors match well together, making the entire outfit charming. Time for “back-to-school”, let’s rock a preppy plaid skirt and feel like we are part of Glee or Gossip Girl. It is not restricted to TV shows only. You can wear …

Fashion Inspiration: Then & Now

As young girls we are often inspired by television, movie, and music stars in more ways than just the aspiration for fame.  When we idolize someone we look to their fashion sense to get inspiration for our own wardrobe and more often than not we try to replicate their look and make it our own. When I was younger I loved the Spice Girls… more specifically Ginger Spice.  Needless to say there were many pairs of platforms, shorts, and tank tops, not to mention endless pleading with my mom to let me wear red lipstick and glitter all the time. The answer was no. As I got older, it began to shift from Cher Horowitz of “Clueless” fame, to a little bit of pre-breakdown Britney, and finally Legally Blonde’s Elle Woods. Do we see a pattern here? YHM sat down with two ladies, Erica Villalobos and Diana Vallez, to chat about just this – fashion inspiration!  While this inspiration can come from just about anywhere it is safe to say that as women we tend to …
