Chillen with Chi; Your Guide to Bright Colors in Fall

When you think of fall fashion, bright pink probably isn’t a color that crosses your mind. However, a chunky sweater most likely will. Bright colors are unexpected during the autumn season, but they are not stopping style blogger and beauty queen Chinyere Adogu of Chillen with Chi from wearing over-sized sweaters that are simply ideal for the cold weather. For our latest Look Book feature, Adogu pairs a candy pink, cable knit sweater with a glossy, leather skirt. The mix of fabrics creates a fashion-forward outfit—who cares what the season is! The raven colored mini skirt makes the cozy sweater pop even more. Adogu explains that she loves experimenting with color. “My style is effortlessly chic! I love colors! Color-blocking, mixing prints, a pop of color or the same color head-to-toe.” Her off the shoulder top plus the geometric mini skirt definitely pushes the boundaries of fall fashion yet makes total sense. Her look is easily a summer to fall transition piece. Complementing her outfit is her choices in accessories; a brightly colored matching pink …

The Louis Reign Takeover & Why Plaid is a Timeless Fashion Statement

As Cher Horowitz would say, “You see how picky I am about my shoes, and those only go on my feet.” If Clueless took place in 2017 in New York City, then this outfit would have been Cher’s iconic, yellow plaid skirt-suit ensemble. This look has transcended along the ages. Plaid never goes out of style, and neither does our Look Book! Christine Louis of the trendy fashion and art blog Louis Reign shared with us her style philosophy on the set of our autumn photo shoot collaboration. “My style is edgy with a twist. I love neutral colors and mixing vintage pieces with luxury pieces.” Her outfit screams just that. Contrasting red, dark blue, green, and black created a bold color palette; a color palette that is still dark enough to wear during the fall. While mixing a Prada cross-body bag with a plaid skirt allows for a mixing of luxury and the 90’s vintage-inspired pieces. We love her contrasting muted olive-green fedora hat. Christine mixes yet totally achieves a match-worthy ensemble with the …

Daughters of Artemis: Stylishly Claiming Our Crown

Ane Amour’s “Daughters of Artemis” collection for autumn/winter 2017 sent us on a hunt for power with its bold and rustic forest colors and prints. Designer Lyala Anne captured the true essence of women on the hunt in this season’s pieces. The A/W 2017 collection inspires us to feel as if we’ve slipped into the clothing of a goddess, while its bold cuts keep us modern yet conservative. Allowing women to feel inspired to conquer, Anne made sure to create pieces that would suit all body types. Her tonal prints allow outfits to vary from day to night and from business to evening wear. Some of the floral prints that canvas white fabrics can even transition into the warmer spring and summer months. Floral prints danced on ruffled fabrics in a fierce yet subtle way. The designer’s play with nature was exciting and the floaty fabric’s mimicked wispy hair in the wind. Conservative yet sexy, Anne’s garments hug and swing in all the right places. Any woman wearing a piece from the “Daughters of Artemis” …

PH5 Makes Knitwear Playful, Sexy & Way Better Than Grandma’s Knits

New York Fashion Week is the red carpet event for designers to show off their coveted collection; it can make or break upcoming designers. While it seems anyone can float around the Garment District of New York City and whip up a few pieces, only the innovative and most talented creators will cross the minds of publications such as Vogue, Women’s Wear Daily, and Forbes. PH5—a contemporary womenswear label focused on cutting edge knitwear—has done just that. Recently wrapping up their sophomore season at NYFW, founder Wei Lin and designer Mijia Zhang take a moment off their busy schedule to talk PH5’s “story of art meets science.” Lin and Zhang seem to have mastered what happens “when an artistic designer has direct access to high tech” materials for their production. PH5’s autumn/winter 2017 collection features drapey and fitted silhouettes against colorful asymmetric skirts and dresses to sexy jumpsuits with a crisscrossed back. Stripes and abstract patterns also played a central figure over cream colored tops and bottoms in the brand’s assorted collection. YHM: Knitwear can …
