Can Men & Women Just Be Friends?

It’s normal for people to build a bond with each other over time. But what if they’re of the opposite sex? Can guys and girls have friendships without drama or romantic feelings? This, of course, has been a question for the ages. We’ve seen all the classics like When Harry Met Sally, No Strings Attached, Friends With Benefits, and 13 Going on 30. Those romantic comedies tackled this great debate on the widescreen. We asked a few young women on their experiences with guys and if they had any awkward encounters because let’s face it we all have some really hot guy friend right? Tori, 19 | Of course, guys and girls can be friends! I have many guy friends. I go to parties, sporting events, and dinners with them all the time. They are really cool. I have brothers and I spent time with guys all the time so I’m really comfortable around them. Of course, some of us might develop romantic feelings but it goes away quickly over time. My guy friends already know that I have a boyfriend so they respect …

How Women Are Taking Over Their Careers – Online!

Today, information and services can be spread and received further and faster than ever before because of the Internet. Individuals everywhere are building their careers online based on their talents, services and clients. There is a new wave of bloggers, web developers, and artists who have embraced the idea of becoming their brand and are making great profit! We asked three young women who are looking to become online freelancers and marketing gurus how they feel about their future careers. Nicole, 19 I’m an artist that often uses color pencils and painting for my artwork. I have many sketchbooks of my drawings. Recently, I posted my artwork online and got a nice following. My friends advised me that I should put my work onto shirts, shoes, and other products so I can sell them. I really like this idea and even ordered a box of plain white T’s to work on. I’m taking online classes to learn new skills like Adobe Photoshop so I can become a graphic designer. I feel like there’s so much free information and …

Does Hard Work or Luck Make The Girl?

What does self-worth mean to you? Many women are putting the amount of hard work they accomplish on a daily basis as the determination of their worth. Some women put in their looks and the men they date as a goal factor. While others find meaning in their career or academics. We ask four young women how much they rely on hard work and not luck to guide their lives. Jacqueline, 21 I believe I work hard every day. I don’t believe that relying on luck  will help me more in life than working hard. Working hard has helped me attain a lot of my goals. I admire other independent women. Especially the ones that don’t lose sight of themselves. Abby, 26 It takes hard work and sometimes luck to make things happen. I use a little bit of both concepts to navigate and accomplish my goals. For example, I can work my way through college, land internships, apply for jobs and get nothing. Then, out of the blue my friend passes my resume onto her boss. Boom! …

Is Valentine’s Day Overrated?

Is Valentine’s Day overrated? Is it just another holiday that big corporations can profit off of consumers? Or is it still a special day to express genuine emotions to love ones? This holiday might still be relevant holiday in order to share nice sentiments with others. We feel that the right person can make this day worthwhile.  YHM asks two young women how they view the day of love. Morgan Bibrey, 22 | I don’t think Valentine’s Day is overrated, but I don’t think it’s a big deal either. People shouldn’t be pushed into celebrating this holiday if they aren’t interested in it. I feel both parties, male and female, should make a mutual contribution on the holiday. But what I do find annoying about this day is how single people tend to complain how they don’t have a special someone to share time with. I think what everyone should remember is that you don’t need Valentine’s Day to show love. Vanessa Estiman, 20 | It’s a nice holiday and it reminds people how important love is. People …

Relationship Don’ts: How Being Impulsive Can Ruin Your Chances at Romance

Do you believe in love at first sight? I do. I also believe in love at first hello, wave, and conversation. I’m what you call an impulsive and a hopeless romantic person. A dangerous and tragic combination because it leaves room for foolish mistakes. In high school I was a quiet girl who was known to keep things to myself. I didn’t always share information about myself unless I had a crush (and that was many). The guy I would usually go after was tall, smart, and with a nice body. If he didn’t please my eye, he wasn’t worth my time. Now let’s get into the playbook. Mistake #1: Falling for a guy just because he is attractive is foolish because you are not preoccupied with getting to know him as a person. He could have a beautiful face and a great shape on the outside but have the soul of Perez Hilton on the inside. I was an impulsive girl who liked a challenge in guys. I wanted a guy that was hard to get. But …
