New year, new movies, and new stars! The New Year brings in more than just resolutions. A new crop of celebrities also comes to Hollywood!

Chris Pratt: Fans of Parks and Recreation will already recognize him as the lovable and dimwitted Andy on the NBC sitcom. But now Chris is earning his movie star status. He is currently the voice of Emmett the Lego piece in the box office smash “The Lego Movie.”

In the summer, he will be starring in the much-anticipated superhero movie of the summer “The Guardians of the Galaxy.” Pratt will be playing Peter Quill, whose superhero name is Starlord.

Chiwetel Ejiofor: Ejiofor is a big deal in England. He is an actor of the stage and screen. This year Ejiofor is making his name in the United States. His portrayal of Solomon Northrup, a freeborn African-American forced into slavery, in “12 Years a Slave” has earned him multiple accolades.

He has been nominated for best actor at both the Golden Globes and the Screen Actor Guilds Awards. He was also nominated for best actor at the Oscars. Although Ejiofor lost the Oscar to Matthew Mcconaughey, Ejiofor did win best actor at the BAFTA awards in February.

Lupita Nyong’o: This Kenyan beauty is new to the world of Hollywood. Her first ever film role as Ejiorfor’s co-star in “12 Years a Slave“, has brought Nyong’o to the “A” list. She has had a successful awards season. She was nominated for 7 awards, including a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress and two Screen Actor Guild award including Best Supporting Actress, which she won.

Nyong’o was also nominated for and won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress, beating out last year’s winner Jennifer Lawerence. Just last month Nyong’o was chosen as one of the faces for Miu Miu’s Spring 2014 campaign. Nyong’o will next be seen on the big screen in Liam Neeson’s airplane thriller “Non-Stop”.

Karen Gillan: This Scottish redhead will be the new baddie of the Marvel Universe in the summer blockbuster “Guardians of the Galaxy.” Gillian will be playing Nebula a blue and bald alien/cyborg. For the role Gillan had to shave her beautiful red tresses.

Gillan recently ended her run on the hit British television show Doctor Who, where she played the Doctor’s companion, Amy Pond, for two and a half seasons.

Ansel Elgort: Elgort will be taking on the role of two literary characters this year. First in the Young Adult novel turned movie, Divergent. He will be playing the role of Caleb the “stick to the rules” brother of Tris (Shailene Woodley).

In August, Elgort and Woodley team up again for John Green’s love story about two teens with cancer, “The Fault in Our Stars”. He will be playing the lead role of Augustus Waters. The Fault in Our Stars has a huge fan base that will only boost Elgort into even more fame.
