Arctic Monkeys; Smooth Indie Melodies for Heartbreaks

Characterized by their signature traits of being cool, mysterious, and edgy, the Arctic Monkeys has slowly emerged to be one of the most hyped and influential bands of the 21st century.

The band blew up the indie rock scene once again when they released their much-anticipated album, AM, in 2013. Combining a mixture of modern jazz and Hollywood rock, the Arctic Monkeys bring a sense of originality and uniqueness to a genre that is in desperate need of a contrasting sound to recent releases. Created as being one of the pioneer bands to become popular mostly due to web-based fan-bases instead of through promotion and marketing, the Arctic Monkeys have proven that self-boosting isn’t always necessary when the product itself is difficult to ignore.

Credited as being one of the pioneer bands to become popular mostly due to web-based fan-bases instead of through promotion and marketing, the Arctic Monkeys have proven that self-boosting isn’t always necessary when the product itself is difficult to ignore.

Led by the charming and enigmatic frontman, Alex Turner, the band has showcased its versatility and artistic prowess through its various albums over the years. From their first album, Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not, to their latest masterpiece, AM, the Arctic Monkeys has been known to experiment with fresh beats and unusual sounds, making their music highly distinctive from other bands of their genre.

Their lyrical content has been described to be a mixture of emotional and yet uplifting. Most of their songs tend to touch upon the topics of the heartache of unsuccessful relationships, the lust for nostalgia, and the ups and downs of growing old and becoming wiser and more mature.

Complimented by their super catchy rhythms and remarkably prominent use of instruments, it is no wonder the Arctic Monkeys have been such a commercial and critical success for so long. Check out one of our favorites hits, “Do I Wanna Know?”
